Whether you provide scientific datasets or develop AI applications, the RI-SCALE Open Call connects Data Providers and AI Application Providers to create and validate new AI-enabled use cases through the RI-SCALE Data Exploitation Platform (DEP). Participants receive tailored technical support, access to data or computing resources, and opportunities to collaborate across the European research and innovation ecosystem.

How the collaboration works
Selected participants will join a collaborative ecosystem where:
- Data Providers contribute scientific datasets.
- AI Application Providers develop and validate AI solutions.
- RI-SCALE provides the Data Exploitation Platform, computing infrastructure and technical support that connects both communities.
The goal is to demonstrate new ways of exploiting Research Infrastructure data through AI and advanced analytics.

Who can apply?
Applicants may include:
- Research Infrastructures
- Universities and research organisations

- Other organisations established in an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country and eligible for Horizon Europe participation.
Applicants should apply either as a Data Provider or as an AI Application Provider, depending on the primary contribution they bring to the project.
What kind of use cases are we looking for?
We are looking for collaborative use cases where:
- scientific datasets are made available through DEP;
- AI applications are deployed and validated using those datasets;
- computing resources enable scalable data processing.
Examples include:
- AI and machine learning
- Predictive analytics
- Digital twins
- Decision-support systems
- Large-scale data analytics
- Data interoperability
- Scientific AI applications
- Industrial AI applications
Each proposal should explain:
- the challenge being addressed;
- the proposed solution;
- whether the applicant is a Data Provider or AI Application Provider;
- required datasets or infrastructure;
- expected impact;
- contribution to DEP validation.
Selection
Applications will be evaluated by members of the RI-SCALE consortium.
The evaluation will consider:
- Relevance: Alignment with RI-SCALE objectives and potential value for Research Infrastructure communities.
- Innovation: Novelty of the proposed approach and its potential contribution to data exploitation and AI adoption.
- Feasibility: Technical viability of the proposed implementation within the available timeframe and resources.
- Team Capacity: Experience, expertise, and ability of the applicant team to deliver the proposed activities.
Successful applicants may be invited to further discuss their proposals before final selection. The data you provide, if not public, will be treated confidentially and the reviewers will sign a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement.
